ABOUT GWEN

Gwen is a senior at The University of Akron (UA), pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Sales Management. With a strong foundation in social media, design, and strategic communications, she is passionate about helping brands build meaningful connections with their audiences by translating strategy into compelling storytelling and designing intentional content and campaigns.

As a Social Media Assistant for UA’s Office of Academic Retention and Support, Gwen played a key role in strengthening the office’s digital presence and helping connect at-risk students to vital academic resources. During her time in this position, she used content planning, campaigns, and social media strategy to increase the visibility and engagement of OARS initiatives. Her contributions led to substantial growth in account reach, interactions, and non-follower discovery. By developing and executing platform-specific social media content and strategies, and pairing analytics with creative execution, Gwen ensured that OARS messaging resonated with current students and supported their academic journey from enrollment through to early career stages.

Alongside her direct work with social media in this position, Gwen has also had the chance to learn more about marketing and sales as a Marketing Intern for Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center and a Sales & Branding Intern for Power Graphics, Inc.

Beyond her social media positions and internships, Gwen has had the opportunity to lead multiple client-based marketing projects with organizations such as Global Ties Akron and Sitting Made Simple (Columbus), and remains heavily involved on campus at The University of Akron. She loves actively applying her classroom learning to real-world marketing challenges, which she does through her campus involvement. Gwen is currently involved in many organizations on campus; here are some of her current roles:

  • Vice President of Marketing for Delta Sigma Pi (Theta Kappa)

  • Student Ambassador for The Fisher Institute for Professional Selling

  • Dean’s Team Ambassador for The College of Business at UA

  • Member of the Fisher Sales Society

  • Member of the American Marketing Association

  • Member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society

  • Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success

Through her involvement at The University of Akron, Gwen has had the opportunity to develop a strong foundation in both strategic branding and creative marketing solutions. Her experiences have strengthened her ability to plan, execute, and evaluate a variety of marketing initiatives. She has developed hands-on skills in content strategy and creation, target audience segmentation, brand storytelling, and campaign execution and analysis. Through her leadership roles on campus, she has gained hands-on experience in project coordination, team collaboration and management, event planning, promotion, execution, and time management by working alongside peers and university partners to bring campaigns and programs to life.

Beyond her campus involvement, Gwen enjoys planning and leading marketing-focused activities for youth in the community and has worked with both the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio and Barberton Schools, using creativity and strategy to bring foundational marketing concepts to life in an accessible and engaging way. She is excited to inspire the next generation of marketers to one day follow in her footsteps.

In addition to her dedication to serving both on and off campus, Gwen enjoys making time for hobbies that fuel her creativity and personal growth. In her downtime, Gwen can often be found playing billiards, lifting at the gym, concocting specialty coffee brews at home, expressing her creativity through arts and crafts, or spending time with her nose in a book and her cat, Wubbzy, by her side.
